James S. Levine received a BA in History (1971) and in Russian (1972) from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and his MA (1975) and PhD (1977) in Slavic Linguistics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Prior to joining the faculty of George Mason University in 1981, Dr. Levine was Assistant Professor of Russian at the University of Maryland, College Park (1977-1981). He is currently Associate Professor of Russian and director of Russian Studies. Research interests include Russian language & linguistics, especially case, voice, aspect, and verbal reflexives in Russian.
